Court of Auditors
The joint Court of Audit of Gemert-Bakel and Laarbeek is an independent committee that supports the municipal councils in their monitoring task. The committee investigates whether municipal policy has been properly implemented and has had the desired effect. It also examines whether money has been wasted. With its investigations, the audit committee aims to contribute to the quality of governance of the municipalities of Gemert-Bakel and Laarbeek.
How does the Court work?
Using a number of criteria, the Court determines which investigation to conduct. These criteria include social importance, financial importance, risk and doubt about the performance of the implementation.
After choosing an investigation, an investigation plan is drawn up and sent to the City Council for information. This is adopted annually. The investigation plan outlines what, why and how the Court's investigation takes place. This is followed by the actual investigation and the results, conclusions and recommendations are presented in a report. This report is public and is presented to the City Council for consideration.
Research Program
The Court chooses its research topics itself. It finds ideas for topics, for example, through the program budget, council minutes and current events. Suggestions from residents of the municipalities of Gemert-Bakel and Laarbeek are also welcome.
If you have ideas, please pass them on to the secretary (Antje van den Berg) at antje.vandenberg@gemert-bakel.nl.
