Collective supplementary insurance
Everyone living in the Netherlands is required to have basic health insurance. The end of the year is the time to scrutinize your health insurance. Does your current policy still match the care you need?Basic health insurance is mandatory; supplemental insurance is a choice. Do you have a low income? Then you can participate in the collective supplementary insurance (CAV) of the municipality. Also known as the municipal policy.
Am I eligible?
You are eligible if you meet the following conditions:
- You are a Dutch citizen or have a valid residence permit;
- You live in the municipality of Gemert-Bakel;
- You are NOT registered with the Central Administration Office (CAK). This happens when there is a (large) premium payment arrears to your current health insurer.
- Your income does not exceed 120% of the national assistance standard applicable to you;

Make the best choice
The CAV is intended for households with high health care costs and low income. Supplementary health insurance is not cheap, even if the municipality helps pay for it. It is therefore important that you choose the insurance that best suits your healthcare needs.
To help you choose, on the website of healthy insured a decision aid. You enter on that website what care you need. The website tells you which package (offered by the municipality) suits you. Don't want to change anything? Then you don't have to do anything.
