Green structure and green policy
Gehighlighte text: The plan was adopted at the Feb. 5 council meeting. The plan can be found on webpage with policy notes.
A green environment is an important prerequisite for a healthy and attractive living environment. Public green space helps to combat climate change and it benefits biodiversity. In addition, it provides healthier air and also has a social function, people like to meet each other and faster in a green environment.
On Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, the Green Structure and Policy Plan (GSBP) was adopted by the Gemert-Bakel Municipal Council.
This green structure and policy plan provides the dot on the horizon to work together on that attractive living environment. A residential environment that not only consists of pleasant places to live or the right facilities, but also an environment that is sufficiently green. In short; a healthy basis for vital villages and rural areas!
Over the next few years, based on this plan, we will work on an implementation program in which we have agreed for a period of 10 years what tasks we will work on and when within the seven cores.
We do this through four principles:
1.We ensure that there is sufficient and sustainable green space for every resident;
Soil, water and biodiversity guide the development and management of our green space;
We provide varied green space that contributes to various tasks;
Green is for all of us, we work on it together.
Over the next 4 years, the focus will be on continuing to green petrified streets and neighborhoods. This already has our full attention when renovating streets. We are also committed to creating greenery around the villages in line with the provincial forest strategy. This may lead to new village commutes.
The implementation program is not a fixed list. In future years, actions may be modified or new actions added.
