Macropedius
New building Commanderij College Macropedius
In February 2024, the City Council approved the location choice Sportpark Molenbroek for the new Commanderij College building and its further development.
With the new construction of secondary education, the municipality of Gemert-Bakel is contributing both to the regional jump in scale and also to increasing the attractiveness and livability of our municipality. In doing so, it stands for the preservation of future-proof secondary education in our municipality.
State of affairs
In February 2024, the City Council opted for new construction of the Commanderij College Macropedius on sports park Molenbroek and its further development. The agreement with the City Council is, that in the first phase of the process there will be two go/no-go moments. The first go/no-go moment concerns the traffic situation and the public space at the Molenbroek Sports Park location. The second go/no-go moment is related to the relocation of the 3-star. So that means that at this moment another location is not investigated.
In addition, the college updates the City Council once a quarter on the state of affairs. This is done during the regular Social Domain, Sports and Education committee meeting. The last time this took place during the committee meeting of October 3, 2024. See the document '20241003 - Committee Social Domain, Sports and Education - Presentation - New Building Macropedius' at the bottom of the page.
Next steps traffic situation
Traffic counts were taken in March at the current location of the Macropedius and the future location. Those counts will be included in the elaboration of the traffic situation. A traffic engineering firm has been selected to work out the traffic situation around the sports park: Accent Advisors. The municipality and the traffic engineering firm will work together with local residents and stakeholders to arrive at a solution with the greatest possible support.
Documents meeting Nov. 5, 2024
The document below contains the three sketch designs prepared by the traffic engineering firm Accent Adviseurs. On Tuesday, November 5, 2024, Accent Adviseurs will provide further explanation of the three sketch designs at a meeting for stakeholders.
Updates
Update Q3 2024
Last July, this projects page was put online. In addition, the project briefs (relocation of the 3-star and traffic engineering) and communication plan were adopted by the college and shared with the council. In late July, the council selected the traffic engineering firm, they will create a design for the public space together with all stakeholders. For this in Q4 of 2024 and Q1 of 2025 held three meetings.
A consultation with the residents' collective and other neighbors of the sports park took place in September. During this meeting, participation and communication of the subprojects were discussed.
Initial discussions with the three 3-star associations were scheduled in September to pick up where the desires are for appropriate relocation.
Update Q2 2024
In April, the council shaped the main structure for the project and created a schedule. This main structure was presented to the city council. In May, work began on the project assignments, the frameworks for participation and the first draft of the communication plan.
Update Q1 2024
On February 1, 2024, the City Council made the council decision to designate the Molenbroek Sports Park site as the preferred location for the new Commanderij College Macropedius. There are two conditions attached to this. These two conditions are moving the clubs in the 3-star and making the surroundings suitable for the arrival of the school.
On February 26, 2024 a residents' evening took place. During this evening a first inventory was made of what the residents of the Sportpark and the Lodderdijk are up against with regard to the current traffic situation. They were also asked what they expect the problems to be with the arrival of the school.
Traffic counts were taken in March at the current Macropedius site and the future site.
