Passport

In the Netherlands, everyone over the age of 14 must be able to identify themselves. Persons under 14 may also be asked for proof of identity by hospitals and health care institutions. Abroad, everyone must be able to identify themselves, regardless of age. A passport is a valid proof of identity in all countries of the world. A passport is valid for five years up to the age of 18, and for 10 years from the age of 18. You must apply for and collect a passport in person from the municipality where you are registered. If you are applying on behalf of a child, the child must also be present at both times. To apply for a passport you must make an appointment.
