Request based on the Open Government Act (Woo).

As of May 1, 2022, the Open Government Act (Woo) will apply. This law replaces the Open Government Act (Wob). The Woo aims to make government more transparent. Government information must become more accessible and consultable for everyone.

Much information is already public. Our website contains organizational details, council documents and council decisions. On the Government.nlexternal-link-icon websiteand on the Official Announcementsexternal-link-icon website you will find announcements about such things as local regulations, permits and other decisions of the municipality.

Are you seeking information that is not yet in the public domain? You can then submit an "ordinary" information request or a request based on the Woo. We call the latter a Woo request. Below you can read about the difference between those 2.

Information request

People often want information or documents for their own use. For example, if you need something for an objection procedure, a permit application or to file a complaint. Anyone may make a request for information to the municipality. No formal procedure follows, but only you yourself receive an answer.

Woo request

A Woo request involves administrative information for which the municipality is responsible and which is also in our possession. This is information that we have not previously made public. A formal procedure does follow. How this works is explained below. Information that we make public in response to your Woo request is in principle available to everyone. Soon you will therefore find all Woo requests, the decisions on these requests and the documents made public on the website.

Are you unsure between an information request or a Woo request? If so, please contact one of our Woo contact officers. This can be done through our customer contact center, telephone number 0492-378500.

How do you submit a Woo request?

Please contact us by phone first. Ask for one of our Woo contact officers. We will be happy to help you with your question and see if the information you want is available and viewable. Perhaps the information is already in the public domain. Or we can help you make your request as specific as possible. You can submit your Woo request either verbally or in writing or by using our online Form Woo Request External Link Icon.

Procedure Woo request

If you submit a Woo request, the municipality has four weeks to respond to your request. In some cases, for example if the request is very extensive, we may extend this period by 2 weeks. Has your request been processed? The information can then be made public in various ways. For example via a (digital) copy of the document, a summary or extract, or the invitation to come and view the documents in the town hall. On the digital form you can indicate how you wish to receive the information (digitally or by mail).

When do we not disclose information?

It is not possible to make a Woo request if the desired information does not relate to the public duties of the municipality. Nor can we disclose information that is already in the public domain. However, we will always refer you to the source of the information in this case.

There are situations when we may not disclose requested information. This is for example:

  • when doing so would jeopardize the security of the State,
  • It contains confidential data (for example, company or manufacturing information) or
  • if the privacy of individuals is compromised.

The cost

Submitting a request costs you nothing. Requesting digital information is also free of charge. If you want copies on paper, it costs €0.05 per A4 or €0.10 per A3. The cost for other copies can be found in the fee regulations.

Legal Protection

Do you disagree with our decision on your Woo request? If so, you can file an objection. You can read how to do this in the letter with the decision on your Woo request.
