Saving and generating energy
You use the refrigerator, freezer, washing machine and lights almost every day. All these appliances naturally consume electricity. In addition, heating your home also costs a lot of energy. If you use less energy, you save money. Here are some tips on how to save:
- Turn your heating down one degree during the day and save +/- 7% energy.
- Turn the heating down 3 to 4 degrees before you go to sleep (not with underfloor heating).
- Close all hallway and connecting doors in the house and close the curtains at night.
- Do not heat rooms where you are not staying.
- Place radiator foil behind your radiators.
- Replace incandescent and halogen bulbs with LED bulbs and save 70% electricity.
- Shower no longer than 5 minutes and buy a water-saving shower head.
- Use the washing machine on eco mode and dry your laundry on a clothesline.
- Replace all appliances older than 15 years with energy-efficient appliances.
- Set your Boiler to 60 degreesexternal icon and save 5-10% gas.
- Insulate your (cavity) walls, roof and floor and get HR++ glass and save 20-35% gas.
- Have your home insulated by a certified company.
- Replace your old central heating boiler and/or consider a (hybrid) heat pump.
- Replace your old supply and return ventilation box(es) with a "DC motor" box.
- Solar panels for own power generation for e-car driving for a mid-size car per 15,000 km/year requires about 2,400 kWh (8 panels of 320 Wp).
