Pupil Transport
Instruction text: To qualify for pupil transportation, you must submit an application. You can only apply for pupil transport in advance (you will never receive money retroactively). The application must be submitted before July 1 preceding the next school year. Within 8 weeks of receiving your application form, you will receive a response. For applications during the school year, it is important that the application is submitted at least 10 days before the desired starting date. Pupil transport can be applied for digitally. You need DigiD for this.
Conditions of pupil transportation
Pupil transportation is adapted transportation by cab or a (partial) reimbursement of transportation costs from home to school. If your child cannot go to school independently because of distance or disability, you may be eligible for transportation.
Conditions of pupil transportation
In practice, it only makes sense to apply for pupil transportation for children who:
- attend an elementary school and the distance from home to the school is more than 6 kilometers and there is no comparable elementary school of the desired religious or philosophical direction, or public school closer to home;
- attend a special elementary school and the distance from the home to the school is more than 6 kilometers;
- attend an elementary or secondary school and are unable to attend school independently due to a disability;
- attend a school for cluster 1 to 4 that falls under the Expertise Centers Act and the distance from the home to the school is more than 6 kilometers.
Important text: Please note that if there is a right to pupil transport, this always applies to the nearest accessible school.
Own contribution
For parents of children in elementary school or special elementary school, a co-payment applies. If your annual family income is below a certain limit, this co-payment is cancelled. This limit is set annually.
