OV hub

We set up central places where public transport and other means of transportation come together. This allows a traveler to transfer easily and comfortably to another mode of transportation. We look for a suitable location on the outskirts of Gemert, so that it is easily accessible for all residents. In this way we keep Gemert-Bakel livable and accessible in a growing region, also for the cores.

Location study OV hub

A study of a suitable location for an OV hub will begin in 2024. We want more people to use public transport, both residents and visitors to our village. This is in line with the ambition to keep Gemert-Bakel livable and accessible, also in the cores.

What is an OV-HUB?

An OV hub is a place where different means of transportation are brought together. Passengers will soon be able to transfer easily and quickly to another mode of transport here. We will look for a suitable location for buses to stop. You can get there easily on foot, by bicycle, car or cab and by public transport bus. There should also be enough space for bicycle parking and car parking. The goal is to improve the transportation network so that more travelers use public transportation.

Why this research on the south side of Gemert

On the outskirts of Gemert, we want to realize an OV hub on the south side that connects to existing roads and OV lines. A location on the edge of the village is also easily accessible for residents from all our cores. Because of ongoing projects such as the N272 and the express bicycle routes to Helmond and Eindhoven, we are starting this study.

What will we investigate?

Near the West-Om, several bus lines converge and we are investigating locations with sufficient space for an OV hub. At this location sufficient space is needed for several buses to stop and where sufficient bicycles can be parked. In addition, sufficient space is also needed so that travelers can comfortably transfer or carpool.

When do we do what?

The goal is to complete the study before the summer so that a council decision on the final location can be made in the fall of 2024. We are gathering information from previous studies, looking at the surroundings and conducting an environmental dialogue with residents and travelers. We make a sketch of what the OV hub could look like. A final design will not be developed until the location is determined by the city council.
