<h3 class="h3 h3__text">Why are we working on mobility?</h3><p>Thinking forward, we work on good accessibility within our municipality and to the region. We do this so that all residents, including those from the cores, can get around easily by bicycle, public transport and car. So that facilities such as a hospital, theater, a cup of coffee with family or friends, shopping, work or study are easily accessible. We make every effort to achieve this.</p><h3 class="h3 h3__text">How will we ensure this?</h3><p>We make every effort to develop new opportunities for bicycles, public transport and cars. We strive to ensure that all residents can safely reach their destination by an appropriate means of transportation. Opening up the small cores of the municipality remains an important focus for us.</p><h3 class="h3 h3__text">What are we going to do for that?</h3><p>As a municipality of Gemert-Bakel, we are progressive. We see opportunities to make this possible with, for example, sustainable shared cars, express bicycle routes, infrastructural adjustments. Through behavioral campaigns we strive to make residents more aware of their travel behavior. </p>

We set up central places where public transport and other means of transportation come together. This allows a traveler to transfer easily and comfortably to another mode of transportation. We look for a suitable location on the outskirts of Gemert, so that it is easily accessible for all residents. In this way we keep Gemert-Bakel livable and accessible in a growing region, also for the cores.

Since October 1, 2 shared cars are available in Gemert for residents and entrepreneurs of Gemert and employees of the municipality of Gemert-Bakel. This sustainable initiative came about on the initiative of the municipality and based on the results of an interest poll. 

Many people commute daily by car between Gemert and Eindhoven. Providing good and safe cycling facilities creates a healthy and environmentally friendly alternative to the car. The province, the municipalities of Meierijstad, Helmond, Laarbeek, Gemert-Bakel, Asten and Deurne, Waterboard Aa and Maas and Rijkswaterstaat are working together to make the N279 smoother, safer, smarter and future-proof.
