Regional Energy Strategy (RES).

Thirty regions in the Netherlands are doing a lot of work together on a concrete approach to generate sustainable energy by 2030: the Regional Energy Strategy (RES)external-link-icon. The regional approach appears to be working and bringing movement to the energy transition. In their RES 1.0, the regions set an even higher ambition than they did last time: about 55 TWh in 2023. Intensive cooperation has developed and the conversation with residents and businesses is full steam ahead in all regions. The ambition is high, but so are the challenges. The social debate about the impact on the living environment is increasing. Space is limited in our country and the energy system is under pressure. The road to RES 2.0 requires choices, coordination of grid capacity and mutual consultation with residents and entrepreneurs and within and between regions.
