Renew driver's license online at the RDW

• You are applying for a renewal of your driver's license or a category extension.
• You are registered in the municipality of Gemert-Bakel.
• Your cell phone must be an Android smartphone, version 7.0 or higher, or an iPhone model 7 or higher and iOS version 13.2. These phones have a so-called NFC chip reader. The chip reader is needed to perform an identity check when renewing your driver's license online.
• You have a valid driver's license (i.e., your first driver's license or in the case of an application due to loss, you cannot apply for the license this way)
  

• You will be notified by the RDW that your driver's license has expired and that you need to apply for a new license.
• You go to an RDW approved photographer or photo .
• At the photographer, have a digital passport photo taken of yourself.
• The photographer sends the passport photo, along with your driver's license number and your signature to the RDW for verification. You must provide your e-mail address when doing so.
• The RDW checks the photo and your signature.
• You will receive an email from the RDW confirming that your photo has been approved and that you can apply for your driver's license online.

• You apply for your driving license online at the RDW via Apply for driving .
• You will enter a DigiD screen where you log in with your DigiD app. Have you not yet downloaded the DigiD app and/or done the check with your ID? Then check the website for more information.
• You pay online via IDEAL and specify where you want to pick up the new driver's license.
• You will receive an email from the RDW confirming that your new driver's license is being made.
• The RDW will send you a message 2 working days after your application that your new driver's license is ready and can be picked up.
• You make an at the municipality to pick up your driver's license.
• When picking up your driver's license, you must bring a valid ID.

Important text: Please note! You must pick up a requested driver's license within 3 months or it will be destroyed.
