Resettlement from abroad in the BRP
Bring
A valid form of identification. This may not be a driver's license.
proof of occupancy. You may be asked for documents related to the property where you live (for example, a lease, proof of ownership, or a declaration of from the main occupant of the property).
If you are in possession of relevant deeds, please also bring them:
- A birth certificate if you were born abroad;
If you are (were) married: a marriage certificate, a divorce certificate or a certificate as proof that the marriage was dissolved by death. The deeds are not prerequisites for registration. The deeds can also be turned in at a later date.
If you come from the Netherlands Antilles or Aruba please bring proof of deregistration. Citizens from Belgium or Germany may also be asked for this.
Terms
This return is only applicable if you were previously registered in the Netherlands and emigrated from the Netherlands after October 1, 1994.
This also applies to Dutch nationals from the Dutch Caribbean (the countries of Aruba, CuraƧao and St. Maarten and the municipalities of Bonaire, Saba and St. Eustatius).
If you were deregistered from the municipality before October 1, 1994, the product First registration in the Netherlands in the BRP applies to you. If you do not have Dutch, EU/EEA or Swiss nationality, you will also need a residence permit (to qualify for a driver's license, subsidy, benefit, etc.).
Cost
There is no charge for this product.
How long does it take?
Depending on your situation, it will take 1-4 weeks for your registration to be processed in the BRP.
