Separating waste
In Gemert-Bakel we separate our waste as much as possible
- The more we separate waste, the less residual waste we have.
- Composting vegetable, fruit and waste is significantly cheaper and produces green electricity and/or good compost.
- Raw materials are becoming scarcer, recycling is increasing. Cans, metal, vials, tetrapaks and glass can be made into new products.
- Collecting waste separately provides savings. Learn more about types of waste when and how to turn them in and what the costs are.
Prevent waste
- Invest in products that you really need as well as those that will last a long time, to minimize throwing away. Immerse yourself in the concept of "minimalism.
- Buy produce without packaging. For example, pick up reusable bags at the supermarket or market for fruits and vegetables.
- Reuse packaging for the same purposes (e.g., have soap bottle refilled with soap in stores) or for other purposes.
- Give away or sell products you no longer use yourself. Others may still be able to use your products. You can do this in your own circle, as well as at thrift stores or through websites where you can sell used items.
- Buy used stuff yourself, at thrift stores or through websites where you can buy used stuff.
