Social Support Act (Wmo).

The Social Support Act (Wmo) ensures that you can live independently for as long as possible.

Do you need support?

You want to remain independent and live in your familiar surroundings for as long as possible. With a disability, due to old age or illness, this is sometimes difficult. Fortunately, there are often family members, neighbors or friends who are happy to lend a hand. The same goes for volunteers in the neighborhood. If you can no longer manage yourself, you can contact your village support person.

Care and support. This is how we do it in Gemert-Bakel

Sometimes more is needed

If so, the Wmo provides support for such things as:

  • Household support

    • Can you no longer do household chores yourself (completely) because of a disability? For example, cleaning, tidying up or changing the beds? And is there insufficient help from your surroundings? Then you can apply for support from the Wmo.
  • Transport facilities

    • To ensure that you can get around sufficiently in your own environment, there are various transportation facilities. These include an adapted bicycle, mobility scooter or Mobitax.
  • Residential Facilities

    • Living at home longer - independently - with a disability is possible thanks to small or larger adjustments to your home. Think of removing thresholds, installing a stair elevator or adapting your bathroom. Some minor adjustments you can arrange yourself and you also have to pay for them yourself. Depending on the situation, home modifications are reimbursed by your municipality or health insurance company.
  • Wheelchair

    • Do you have difficulty getting around in and around the home? If so, you may qualify for a wheelchair. A wheelchair is only provided through the Wmo if you need it for a longer period of time. For aids that are needed temporarily, contact the home care store, the home care loan warehouse or your health insurance company.
    • Handicapped parking pass
  • Guidance

    • Are you experiencing problems living independently? For example, are you no longer able to do your own administration or structure your day? Is it difficult to make contact with other people? Then you can apply for guidance. We have two forms of guidance: individual guidance and group guidance (day care).
  • Meal facility

Applying for WMO provision

You can contact the municipality for support from the Wmo. To do so, call the municipality's general telephone number 0492-378500. A request will then be passed on to the Wmo to call you back.

PGB/ Care in kind

For use of Wmo facilities (with the exception of wheelchairs), a fixed co-payment of up to €19.00 per month will apply as of 2021, regardless of the number of Wmo facilities. This contribution will be increased to € 20.60 per month as of January 1, 2024. The Central Administration Office (CAK) calculates the own contribution and collects it afterwards. Below a certain income threshold, you do not pay a personal contribution and you will receive a so-called 0-invoice. This income limit is determined annually by the municipality and passed on to the CAK and is approximately 110% of the net social minimum.

You can see the 2024 rates for personal budget for our Wmo services in this chart.

Own contribution

For use of Wmo facilities (with the exception of wheelchairs), a fixed co-payment of up to €19.00 per month still applied in 2023, regardless of the number of Wmo facilities. This own contribution was increased to a maximum of € 20.60 per month as of January 1, 2024. The Central Administration Office (CAK) calculates the own contribution and collects it afterwards. Below a certain income threshold, you pay no own contribution and receive a so-called 0-invoice. This income limit is determined annually by the municipality and passed on to the CAK and is approximately 110% of the net social minimum.

Client Support

If you like, a family member, a close acquaintance or an independent client supporter may be present at the interview. Are you unable to find a good client supporter yourself? Then you can use voluntary but trained client supporters of the KBO, the Zorgcoöperatie Gemert (ZCG) or professionals of Stichting MEE.

Control Plan

Municipalities are legally responsible for carrying out care tasks, as well as monitoring and enforcing the quality and legality of care. There is a lot of money involved within the social domain. It is social money with which the care of vulnerable residents is paid for. In order to keep care affordable and accessible, it is very important that we in the Peelgemeenten partnership purchase good quality and efficient care and check whether care is claimed correctly. The justification for this can be found in a control plan.
