Your home a second home, become a foster parent and give to a child's future

November 6 through November 13 is Foster Care Week. The focus is not only on the importance of foster care, but especially on recruiting new foster parents. Have you ever thought about that?

Caring for the child of your brother, sister, family or acquaintances when needed; did you know that is also foster care? For some children who (temporarily) cannot live at home, care within their circle of family or friends is not possible. For those children, new foster parents are desperately needed. Over 23,000 children between the ages of 0 and 18 in our country cannot live at home temporarily or for a longer period of time. In the Southeast Brabant region, more than 500 children and young people are currently placed in a foster family of Combinatie Jeugdzorg. Have you ever considered whether foster care is something for you?

Good match

There is still an urgent shortage of foster parents. Thus, more than 800 foster children in the Netherlands are waiting for a safe and stable place in a foster family. Because of the shortage of available foster families, foster care organizations have to spend longer looking for a good match. For several years there has been a decline in the number of new foster parents, while the demand for foster care is still greater and requires more customization.

Do you want to welcome a child into your home? You can be there for him/her, make sure the child - temporarily or less temporarily - gets enough attention, feels warmth and is seen. It is an extra home where a child can go for a short or longer time.

Want to know if foster care is for you? Take the foster care test. And request an information package or visit one of the monthly foster care information evenings.
