  • Subsurface geothermal research by SCAN

    By 2050, all homes in the Netherlands must be heated in an environmentally friendly way. One possibility is the use of geothermal heat. In order to determine whether this is possible, research must be done into the suitability of the subsurface, including in this region. That is why SCAN (Seismic Campaign Geothermal Netherlands) is conducting temporary seismic research from the first week of February 2025 in the outlying area of Milheeze, east of the road from Deurne to De Rips. Preparatory work for this research will take place in the weeks before. SCAN is conducting this research by order of the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth. The municipality of Gemert-Bakel has no role in this research.

  • Milheeze center plan update

    The Milheeze Center Plan is entering a new phase. The municipality of Gemert-Bakel continues to work on the plans for the construction of a new multifunctional accommodation. The planned construction of social housing in the parsonage garden and the redevelopment of the church will not go ahead for the time being.

  • 'Gemert-Bakel full of Energy' helps households in Orange neighborhood save energy

    Many people suffer from high energy bills. Neighbors, together with the municipality of Gemert-Bakel, are helping residents save gas and electricity by deploying "energy fixers"! In January and February, the energy fixers install small energy efficient products for free and they give residents of Bakel tips to save energy.

    As of today, the Environment Service itself handles the publication and posting for inspection of the (environment) related permits it handles, according to regional agreements. This includes permits for companies or activities that affect the environment. This means that these permits will only be published in the digital Municipal Gazette and no longer in the Gemerts Nieuwsblad.
