Monuments, designation as a municipal monument
What should you consider?
As an owner of a municipal monument, you are eligible for a subsidy from the monument savings fund under certain conditions and you can become a member of the monumentenwacht . The monumentenwacht Brabant inspects your monument and they make recommendations for maintenance. You may also qualify for other subsidies or low interest loans from the fundsexternal-link-icon.
Do you want to make changes to your monument? Then you may need a permit. Your application will be submitted to the monument committee for advice, after which the Municipal Executive will decide on the permit. There are costs associated with this permit application.

If you think your building should be a municipal monument, you can indicate this to us using the form application to monument, reasoned .
To process your application, we need the following documents:
- Fully completed application form reasoned description
- Photos/images (especially regarding special details)
- Any articles/documentation about the property
The municipality assesses whether your property has the qualities (beauty, age, rarity, flawlessness/recognizability, distinctiveness and uniqueness) for a monument. It does this based on a recommendation from the monument committee.
Monument List
Upon a positive decision by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen, your home/object will be designated as a municipal monument and placed on the municipal monument list.
Lead time and costs
Filing an application for a municipal monument is free of charge. You will receive a response from the municipality within 12 weeks.
